Garda Vetting Guidelines for Students
Garda vetting will be requested for any work experience placement with young children or vulnerable adults.
Any student under 16 years of age at the date of work experience cannot be Garda Vetted.
This may limit your options for work experience.
Please confirm this requirement with the proposed employer.
Roles that require Vetting
- Student Placement in a care home
- Student Placement in a creche
- Student Placement in a hospital
- Student Placement in a Montessori school
- Student Placement in a preschool
- Student Placement in a primary school
- Host family for an exchange student.
Garda Vetting Requirements
- Students Applicants under 16 cannot be vetted.
- Students over 16 years old but under 18 years old require Parental consent, which is given on the Validation Form.
- All students must complete JMB Vetting Validation form (available form Ms O’ Brien, Ailish or school website).
- The validation form must be submitted to the school in hard copy.
- It must be signed in Blue or Black ink.
- Photocopies/Scanned copies will not be accepted.
- Proof of ID is not required for students under 18 years of age.
- Students over 18 yrs: To comply with the requirements of the National Vetting Bureau, it is a requirement that the identity of each applicant be confirmed. Each applicant should be asked to provide documentation which reaches 100 points on the list of acceptable documents.
