On Friday 22nd October, the TYs took on the challenge of climbing Slievenamon.
Two buses full of excited students left in pursuit of the summit. We were all looking forward to the day out although with varying degrees of enthusiasm. We arrived at base camp in wonderful sunshine and began our ascent. We took a pit stop half way up the mountain to admire the beautiful views and regain some energy. The trek to the top was steep and rocky. As we climbed higher, the weather worsened. Through the fog and rain we marched on to the top to capture the summit. In keeping with tradition, we placed our stones on the top of the mountain. Even though weather conditions didn't allow us to enjoy the scenery below, it didn't dampen our spirits as we made our way back down. We had a nutritious snack when the weather cleared and then we made our way back to the buses. Mission accomplished!
