TY Activities
Well done to all our TY students who participated in a rugby skills session during the week. A special thanks to Thurles RFC for coming in to teach our girls new skills – they really enjoyed it! The TYs also took part in a Hospitality and Catering workshop at the start of the term during which they learned about table service and table etiquette. The girls are now looking forward to their bonding trip at Delphi Outdoor Pursuits in Co. Mayo this coming week. Safe travelling to the girls and their TY Co-ordinator and Tutors
Community Games
Congratulations to Sarah Gleeson (2nd Year) and Eve Ryan (1st Year), who represented Holycross in the National Community Games Final last weekend. The girls achieved first place in the U16 contemporary dance section. Well done, girls, we are very proud of you.
Frozen Jr.
We are delighted to announce the dates for our upcoming production of Frozen Jr, which will be held in The Premier Hall, Thurles. Rehearsals are underway with numbers such as ‘Do you wanna build a snowman’ and ‘Let it go’ echoing our hallways. We promise you another spectacular performance from our fantastic cast and show producers! Save the Dates: Thursday – Saturday, October 19th – 21st 2023. Student Council
It is almost nomination and election time for our new Student Council for this academic year. Any nominations from interested parties can be registered with Ms Susan King. Each successfully nominated person will have to present a two-minute speech on why they would be a good leader and on ideas they have for the Student Council. Speeches will be presented on 14th/15th September and elections will follow. Good luck to all interested participants!
After school sports
It has been a very busy week for after school sport in Pres Thurles. Our 1st Years have been trying out different after-school sports over the last few days including hockey, soccer, camogie and gaelic football on our astro pitches, and basketball and badminton in our sports complex. We have a superb range of sports on offer here – there is something for everyone.
Hockey
Congratulations to Roisin Burns (TY), who was selected for the Leinster Inter Pro Panel 2023. Well done also to Mairéad Duggan, who has been chosen for the Leinster South U16 Inter Pro Panel. Wishing them both lots of success in their upcoming respective competitions.
