State Exams

We wish to say a massive ‘Well Done’ to all of our students who have been involved in state exam work over the last few weeks, from orals to practicals and coursework submissions at both Junior and Leaving Certificate levels. The girls are now another step closer to their exams in June. Many thanks to all of their teachers who worked tirelessly preparing the girls for these tasks and to all of our school personnel who were involved in the state exam work during the Easter break. It really is appreciated.

Pres Thurles students recognised by National Junior Cycle Gaeilge Team

Comhghairdeas to our 6th Year students Ellen Bracken, Aoibh Carroll, Philippa Campion and Rachael Deegan, who proudly display their litir bhuíochais from JCT Gaeilge. The students were asked to reflect on their learning experience having completed the new Junior Cycle Gaeilge course introduced in 2017. Their work was an invaluable learning resource for múinteoirí Gaeilge on inservice days throughout this school year. Comhghairdeas libh, a chailíní. Táimid ana bhródúil asaibhse.

Senior Hockey

Congratulations to our Senior C Hockey team, who defeated Mungret at home to secure top spot in the Munster league. It was a very exciting game with both sides attacking the circle but Mairéad Duggan broke the deadlock for Pres Thurles on the stroke of half time. This ultimately ended up being the match-winning goal. Our defence was solid and our midfielders played a super game. Well done to all of the panel and we wish the girls that are injured a speedy recovery. Pres Thurles as now the Senior C League champions and we now progress to the Munster Final! A big ‘Thank You’ to our tireless coaches, Ms Marie Flanagan and Ms Kora Kerrane. #presabú

BD STEM Stars

Well done to our two TY students, Anna Furno and Áine Devitt, who took part in the final of the BD sponsored STEM Stars event at the BD Research Centre in Castletroy. The girls proudly represented our school and performed very well in front of the judges. The girls’ project centred around developing an app called ‘Travelable’ – an app to make public transport reservations easier for people with accessibility needs. The girls also had a very enlightening tour of the BD RCI Biomedical Engineering labs – it was very impressive. It is important that girls get involved in STEM-related projects and activities. We are very proud of Anna and Áine.

Irish Angus Beef Finals

Well done to Erin Moroney, Úna Duggan and Sarah Byrne who competed in the Angus Beef National Final in Croke Park before the Easter Holidays . The standard was incredibly high and the girls delivered excellent presentations to the judges. The results will be announced in a few weeks’ time. Sincere gratitude to Ms Grainne Ryan, who mentored them and travelled up to Dublin with the girls. We are very proud of you all.

Pres Girls travel to Italy for Basketball Trip

Good wishes to our basketball players who travelled over to Montecatini Terme in Tuscany for the Euro-Basket competition with their U17 Tipperary Knights Club team. The girls will have three days of matches in this tournament, which has 70 teams from across Europe. What an amazing opportunity for these hard-working girls during their Easter break from school. HUGE shout out to their dedicated coaches and to all who travel with them. Buon viaggio.
