GAA Gear Appeal for Ugandan Pupils
A primary school in Uganda has organised an appeal to Irish GAA clubs for second-hand helmets, boots, football gloves and jerseys, as a lot of local school children in Uganda have fallen in love with hurling and football. The club was founded by two friends after coming across videos of matches on YouTube and TikTok in 2019. They then started watching matches on the GAAGO app using a subscription gifted to them by the GAA for the 2022 season. The equipment was sent to them by Co. Meath company, Cúltec after its owners saw the children on Instagram playing with makeshift hurleys and tennis balls. Second year CSPE class, Naomh Tomás, here at the Presentation Thurles, have decided to organise a GAA gear appeal for this Ugandan club. We are collecting hurleys, socks, helmets, shorts, jerseys, shin guards, football boots and football gloves suitable for 4-14 year old children, all of which will need to be in good condition.
We are going to be collecting all of the gear until Wednesday the 21st December every morning from 8.30 a.m. until 8.45 a.m. We will also be collecting them in early January for a few days before the GAA gear is transported to Uganda from Co. Meath.
All support is much appreciated.

Christmas Variety Concert
We are thrilled to have our annual concerts back on stage again following the pandemic break. We had a very keenly contested and entertaining 1st Year Variety Concert last Thursday! Our First Year students showed their creative sides with many class group and individual performances. Well done to all who performed; we have a very talented bunch! A big ‘Thank You’ to the 1st Year Year Head, Ms Yvonne O’Sullivan, for organising this fun afternoon for the girls.
