ReelLife Science
During the week our TY students had zoom calls with scientists Heke Vornhagen and Asit Mishra from NUIG from the ReelLife Science competition. The girls are now in the process of creating, producing and editing videos on a science topic of their choice in the hope of winning €1,000 for their group. Best of luck to all of our participants.
Coffee Morning
Our LCA students enjoyed a lovely coffee morning with some special invited guests. The girls’ family members got to enjoy some treats that the girls baked themselves in Home Economics. Well done to all involved.
Dúnchaoin class welcomes a surprise visitor
A very special visitor dropped into our Dúnchaoin class last week. Our girls were thrilled to meet Habibi, a beautiful dog belonging to Ms Rapaport’s family, who was accompanied by our past pupil, Shelley Rapaport. The girls loved meeting Habibi. Huge gratitude to the Rapaport family for sharing their bundle of joy. #crossogue
TY Adventure in Delphi
Our TY students had an action packed time in Delphi Mountain Resort. Traditionally, this has been scheduled for the beginning of Transition Year as it gives the girls the opportunity to get to know each other and bond with each other. What a beautiful setting for the girls to challenge themselves, to learn new skills and to have plenty of fun – all without WiFi and 4G! From bog walks to kayaking and from archery to aerial ropes, the girls certainly tested their nerves! The girls loved their trip and returned exhausted. Sincere thanks to all of the teachers who travelled with them and to their Co-Ordinator, Ms Sinéad Glascott, for organising this for the girls.
Breast Cancer Ireland Talk
A huge ‘Thank You’ to Juliette O’Connell from Breast Cancer Ireland for coming to visit our TY and LCA students last week. Juliette gave our students a very informative talk on breast check awareness; sharing her own personal experience and also giving useful tips on being breast aware. It was a compelling talk and incredibly worthwhile for all who attended.
Third Years visit Cashel Blue Cheese
As part of their secondary industry study for Geography, our 3rd Year students in Naomh Gobnait visited Cashel Blue Cheese during the week. The girls got the opportunity to see the packing area and they stood in a fridge with over 40,000 wheels of cheese! They learned about how this business is run from milk production on the farm to shipping cheeses all over the world. And of course, they got to sample some of the freshly made blue cheeses! It was a most enjoyable and informative trip. Many thanks to Ms Siobhain Heffernan for organising the trip and to Ms Flanagan for accompanying the girls.
Fun First Year Basketball Blitz
Our 1st Years had a great afternoon playing a fun basketball blitz against our neighbours, Ursuline Thurles, in our Sports Complex. Well done to all who participated and thanks to their coaches for mentoring them.
Star Bakers
Well done to the 1st Year students in Naomh Eithne, who recently baked some very tasty home-made bakes recently. Well done, girls, certainly star bakers in the making!
