Presentation Thurles
Pres Thurles are Munster Senior A Soccer Champions
What a week it has been for our senior soccer teams in Presentation Thurles! Our senior team had a very tough encounter against our neighbours in the Munster A semi-final on Monday in Tipperary Town. Ursuline Thurles held a slender one goal lead into the final minute of normal time when up stepped Chloe Shorley to grab an equaliser to send the game into extra time. A brace of goals from 2nd Year student, Molly Kirwan, sealed a memorable victory for Pres Thurles over our local rivals and sent us into another Munster A final for the 8th time in 11 years! Two days later, our senior team battled against Laurel Hill in the Munster A final in Tipperary Town once again, winning with a score line of 3-0. TY student, Aoife Shelly, scored two great goals and the game was finished off with another goal from Molly Kirwan. It was a superb team performance, which was poignantly dedicated to the memory of Sr Theophane, who was an avid fan of our teams. Congratulations to each girl on the panel and to their coaches, Mr Barry Ryan and Mr Cian Treacy. Our Munster champions will now play Athlone CC in the National semi final on Thursday, February 1st. We are so proud of you all. #presthurlesabú
Our U17 soccer team also had a close battle in their Munster quarter final against SMG Blarney on Tuesday. This time we had a slender 2-1 lead when Blarney equalised before the end of normal time. However, our girls stepped up another gear and scored two more goals in extra time. Well done to our team and their coaches and a special shout out to our goalscorers – Aoife Shelly, Ciara Breslin (2) and Molly Kirwan.
Great TY Pres Bake Off
The final of our inaugural Great TY Pres Bake Off took place last Tuesday in our kitchens amid great anticipation and excitement with seven of our TY students (Saoirse Barrett, Amelia Tracey, Eve Ryan Dundon, Pippa Quigley, Oliwia Domagala Pszenica, Orla Power and Niamh O’Regan) creating their visions for their final ‘Showstopper’ cake. Well done to each of the bakers, who completed an amazing feat in such a short space of time. Each ‘showstopper’ looked and tasted incredible! Congratulations to our overall winner, Pippa Quigley with her bespoke Mermaid Cake! Special thanks to our external judges Jackie Lanigan Ryan (Horse and Jockey Hotel), Elizabeth Dunphy (Cashel Palace) and Louise O’Connell (Runnerbean), who had to make the very difficult and final decision. Finally, a huge ‘Míle buíochas’ to our teachers, Ms Frida Dunne and Ms Maura Carroll for organising the whole competition and to Ms Fiona Mulcahy for her help. This whole experience is certainly a memory that the girls will never forget!
Gael Linn
Comhghairdeas le foireann dhíospóireachta na scoile a ghlac páirt sa chomórtas díospóireachta Ghael Linn an tseachtain seo caite. Labhair an captaen Isabel Conroy, Claire Flannery agus Anna O' Brien i gcoinne an rúin 'Tuigeann ár bpolaiteoirí fadhbanna an lae sa tír seo'. Cé nár éirigh linn ar an lá, tugadh ardmholadh do na cailíní agus táimid ana bhródúil astu. Beidh lá eile ag an bPaorach! Pres abú!
