Presentation Day – November 21st

On Monday last, we had a wonderful celebration for Presentation Day. This is such a significant day for everyone here in Presentation Thurles. We celebrated the massive contribution that the Presentation Sisters have given to the Thurles town area over the last couple of centuries, with a prayer service in gratitude to the Sisters. May God bless all of the Presentation Sisters near and far. We also remembered the Sisters who have gone to their eternal heavenly home.

Junior Cert Results

Huge congratulations to all of last year’s Junior Cert students on receiving their excellent results last week. We are very proud of each and every one of you.

Cross Country

Well done to all of our Pres Thurles Cross Country runners in Thurles Crokes on November 17th. Our Minors won gold in the team standings, with Lucy Gleeson finishing in second place, Anna Crawford placed fourth and Cora Doherty placing sixth. Aoife Maher and Laura Fogarty both placed very high up the field. Our Juniors took bronze in the team event with Emma Delaney placing fifth, Jessica Ryan, Tara Moquet and Caragh Ryan all placed in the top ten. Our Intermediates won silver with very high placings from Lucy O’Brien in sixth and Amy Reddan in eighth. Our Senior team won bronze with Cathy Ryan Dundon placing in sixth and Kate Ralph in seventh. Lucy Doyle and Kate O’Keeffe were not far behind placing in tenth and eleventh respectively. Congratulations to all who ran. The girls and their trainer, Mr Stephen Maher, now look forward to the East Munster competition in February 2023.

Soccer

Huge congratulations to our PE teacher, Mr Barry Ryan (Munster manager) and to our student, Ciara Breslin, who won the FAI Schools Inter Pro competition in Dublin last week. What a fantastic achievement! We are very proud of them. #presthurlessoccer

TY Workshop

The Seó Bóthair workshop took place last week for all of our TY students. The workshop was a great opportunity to showcase the many benefits associated with speaking Irish on a daily basis. It highlighted the vast array of job opportunities for those who speak the language. This workshop also addressed the many misconceptions surrounding the language. A big ‘Go raibh mile maith agat’ to Síbeal from Conradh na Gaeilge, who delivered a wonderful workshop.

Junior Football

Last week, our Junior Football team had a fantastic win over Loreto Clonmel. Our girls battled hard against a very talented Loreto Clonmel side with both teams exchanging some fine scores. Our girls continued to battle hard well into the second half and their hard work paid off with some well worked scores sealing an emphatic win. Great resilience was shown and a fantastic team spirit saw the girls come from three points behind to win on a final score line of 9-8 (35) to 4-8 (20). Pres Thurles abú!
