All-Ireland Gael Linn Díospóireacht Final
Well done to our 3rd Year Debaters who had a terrific debate in what was a very high standard All-Ireland Final in Lucan last week. This event series had been organised and sponsored by Gael Linn. The top prize went to the boys from Castlebar, however, our Pres girls finished in second place after a superb display of confidence in debating and Irish language skills. We are very proud of our team of 3rd Years: Orlaith Whitehead (Captaen na Foirne), Amelia Tracey and Pippa Quigley. What an amazing achievement for these girls and their superb mentor and teacher, Ms Sinéad Lewis. Comhghairdeas libh.
Senior Hockey
Congratulations to our Senior C Hockey team, who defeated Regina Mundi 3-1 in the Munster Semi-final with a hat-trick from Orla Duggan. Our girls now march on to the Munster Final. Well done to all squad members and to their dedicated coaches, Ms Marie Flanagan and Ms Kora Kerrane.
Minor Soccer
Well done to our Minor soccer players and their coaches, who beat Coláiste Íde, Abbeyfeale, in Tuesday’s Munster U15 A Final. Our girls narrowly defeated them 1-0 with a fantastic goal from 1st Year Molly Kirwan. A big ‘Thank You’ to their great coaches Mr Barry Ryan, Mr Cian Treacy and Ms Ciara Dwan.
Daffodil Day
Daffodil Day 2023 took place on Friday 24th March. A team of our 5th Year students took on the challenge of “taking back from cancer”. They organised a number of highly successful events throughout the day, including a coffee morning for our senior students and a bake sale for our junior students. Fresh daffodils and pins were sold over the course of the week and the school community was also given the opportunity to honour their loved ones, who have been affected by cancer, on our memory tree. Thanks to the generosity of our students and staff, over €2000 has been raised to date for this worthy cause and donations continue to be received. The events on the day were facilitated and organised by Ms Margaret Finn, her team leaders: Kate O’Hora, Olga Maher, Jara Berrera, Jane Brereton and Kyla Dempsey and all of their hard-working 5th Year volunteers. These brilliant acts of selflessness gave a huge source of enjoyment and self-satisfaction to all of our volunteers involved. Well done, ladies, we are very proud of each and every one of you.
2nd Year Basketball
Congratulations to our 2nd Years who won silver in the Tipperary Basketball Blitz. Our Pres girls finished as runners-up to the overall winners, Loreto Clonmel. Well done to all of our players and to the girls’ coaches, Martin and Sinéad.
