Munster Champions in Junior Gaelic Football
Huge congratulations to our Junior Footballers who beat our neighbours, Ursuline Thurles, in a thrilling Munster final last week in University of Limerick. Our girls played a very strong game and earned their victory with a final score line of 4-7 Pres 2-7 Ursuline. Well done to their coaches Mr Barry Ryan and Mr Cian Treacy. Our Munster champions now march on to the All-Ireland semi-final.
This result now completes a treble of Munster titles for Pres Thurles so far this year in camogie, football and soccer. What an amazing group of girls!
All-Ireland Finals in Senior Soccer and Junior Camogie
We are very proud to announce that we have two superb teams competing in two All-Ireland finals within seven days of each other. On Wednesday March 10th, our Senior soccer team will travel to UL to play against familiar rivals Claregalway in what promises to be an exciting and pulsating high quality encounter. Exactly a week later on St Patrick’s Day, our Junior Camogie team will line out in the deferred All-Ireland final against St Bridget’s, Callan, in Callan Town. We would like to wish each and every girl on both panels, including many dual players, the very best of luck in both finals and to their respective coaches and mentors: Mr Barry Ryan, Mr Cian Treacy and Ms Cáit Devane. We are very proud of everyone involved. Go and play with that famous Pres spirit and give it your best shot. Keep an eye on our social media pages for up-to-date information on kick-off and throw-in times for each final. We would be delighted for any and all support for our girls at both matches. Pres Thurles abú!!!
School Variety Concert
We are delighted to announce that we will be holding a Variety Concert to showcase all of the talent that our students have to offer here in Presentation Secondary School, Thurles. It is proposed that this concert will take place in the beginning of May. We are very excited about hosting this. We have a very strong tradition of hosting high quality West End style of musicals in our school and we have missed producing these over the last two years. Students in the school who wish to participate in this concert must sign up for auditions first. These auditions will take place during the week. So if your daughter loves to sing and dance or act or do comedy sketches, then encourage her to sign up for auditions in the next week. More details will follow in due course. Keep an eye on our social media platforms.
Transition Year Trip to Rome
We would like to wish all of our TY students and their teachers, Ms Olivia O’Brien, Ms Pippa Rapoport, Ms Susan King, Ms Charlotte Murphy and Ms Sinéad Glascott the very best on their trip to the Eternal City of Rome. Buon viaggio agus go n-éirí an bóthair libh.
Pancake Tuesday
There was great excitement last Tuesday amongst our 1st Year Home Economics students who had the opportunity to have some pancake fun on Shrove Tuesday. The girls made and flipped many pancakes during their Home Economics lesson. Thankfully there were no casualties in the pancake flipping process and the girls enjoyed the fruits of their labour with some tasty toppings!
TY Mini Med Programme
Well done to our TY students who participated in this year’s Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland, Mini Med course. This programme offers Transition Year students the opportunity to experience what it is like to train and work as a healthcare professional. They covered a wide variety of topics – including general practice (GP), heart surgery, pathology, paediatrics, forensic medicine, transplants, obstetrics and gynaecology, pharmacy and physiotherapy. The girls thoroughly enjoyed the day’s events. A big ‘Thank You’ to Ms Sinéad Glascott for providing this opportunity for the girls.
