School Thurles
FASHION SHOW
The Presentation decided to embark on new territory in March 2009 and put on a fashion show as part of the fund raising campaign for the new school extension. It was one of the most anticipated and successful events of the year.
The excitement started with the selection of the student models. Students who were interested in participating put forward their names and two pupils from each year group were picked to model on the night. There was also lots of speculation about which of the teachers would be on the catwalk.
The tickets sold out and the Premier hall was filled to capacity on the night. Professional models from the ‘Celia Holman-Lee Model Agency’ (including 5th Year Student Emma Carey) kept us engaged
with the fabulous clothes from local stores.
The shops that participated were:
Marie Therese Boutique – Thurles,
Michael Moran Ltd. – Thurles
Joanne’s Boutique – Thurles
Elvery
Sports – Thurles
Sable – Thurles
Cinderella – Clonmel
Benetton –
Thurles

Lár na Páirce – Thurles
Stakelum’s Fashions – Thurles
We do Weddings – Thurles
Student shoes supplied by McMahons - Thurles
Hair by Ní Riain, Unique, Inc. & Gerrardines
Make-up by Veronica Dunne.

During the intermission students had an opportunity to showcase their talents and provided musical and dance entertainment for the audience.
The models, the students, the teachers, the boys from the CBS, and celebrity hurlers were brilliant but the star of the show was Sr. Theophane who stepped out in style in a crisp, new, wine uniform.
It took the audience some time to recognise her with her new hair but when they did, she got the biggest cheer of the night.
The show was a great success, thanks to all involved.
DAFFODIL DAY
Daffodil Day is organised and run by the Irish Cancer Society. It is the most popular charity event in Ireland and is a chance for everyone in Ireland to make the biggest difference to the lives of everyone affected by cancer. And with more people than ever being diagnosed with cancer, supporting Daffodil Day is more
important than ever
We sold every single daffodil to the last one. We then counted up the money to find the we had not only reached our target, €1000 but that we had €300 more, so altogether rounding it up we raised €1,300 for the cancer society. We invited a spokesperson from the cancer society to come in and she gave us a very informative presentation all about cancer, its causes, such as smoking, drinking, and lack of exercise. She also explained to us where all the fundraising money goes and how many families benefit from it. Maura Dunne then presented her with the cheque for €1,300. She was very appreciative of the huge amount of money raised by the school and thanked us for our generosity and hard work.
